Civic Link connects residents with local government services, but their existing platform was difficult to navigate and felt outdated. Users struggled to find the information they needed, leading to high call volumes and low digital adoption. They needed a redesigned platform that made civic engagement simple, accessible, and even enjoyable for users of all ages and technical abilities.
Accessibility wasn't an afterthought. It was the foundation. We designed every component to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, with clear typography, high-contrast color combinations, and intuitive navigation patterns. The information architecture was restructured around user needs rather than government department structures, making it easy for residents to find services without understanding bureaucratic organization charts.
We conducted user research with diverse community members to understand real pain points. The result is a platform that speaks in plain language, offers multiple pathways to the same information, and works beautifully on the budget smartphones that many residents rely on. Built-in translation support and a robust search function ensure that every resident can access the services they need.
